Senior Fellow, ITS-Davis European Transport and Energy Research Centre
Jacob Teter established an independent consultancy in September 2023, focusing on policy and technology assessments for sustainable transport. Jacob works closely in his new role with the European Transport and Energy Research Centre of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis (ETERC – ITS Davis), as well as other organizations. At the International Energy Agency from 2015 through July 2023, Jacob was an analyst (2015-2019) and then transport lead (2019-2023) in the Energy Technology Policy Division. At the Agency Jacob led in drafting transport-related analysis and policy advice for flagship publications and transport-specific analyses, and was the lead analyst in aviation, heavy-duty road, and co-lead in electrification analyses. Jacob led development of the Agency’s road database and updates to long-term modelling tools, and is skilled in analyzing and managing complex data sets. In 2015 Jacob completed a PhD at the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis in Transport Technology and Policy, and a Masters (all but Thesis) in resource economics at the University of California, Davis. During his graduate studies, Jacob held appointments and fellowships at the US Department of Energy, Tsinghua and Tongji University in China, and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis.
