Senior Fellow, ITS-Davis European Transport and Energy Research Centre
Dr. Martina Wikstrom is a senior research fellow at the European Transport and Energy Research Centre within the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies in California. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. With over 15 years of experience in research, innovation and policy development in the fields of energy and transportation, her expertise contributes to research-driven advancements, shaping regulatory frameworks and to the large-scale transition toward decarbonized transport and resilient energy systems. Prior to her tenure at UC Davis, Dr. Wikstrom directed the transport decarbonization team at the Swedish Ministry of Infrastructure. In this role, she was responsible for shaping government policies aimed at reducing emissions in the transport sector, overseeing interagency governance, and facilitating international collaborations to advance sustainable mobility solutions.
